Wood Working Fundamentals

During the course you will learn to sharpen edge tools and the use and tuning of the hand plane. You will get familiar with tools like a jointer, planer, chop saw, bandsaw, hand planes, spokeshaves and chisels among others. You will aquire an understanding of glues, wood properties and joinery.
It will get you a chance to practice a variety of hands on exercises and apply hand tool techniques such as smoothing, squaring and edge jointing the “Perfect Board”. For the last project you will get go hand cut dovetails.
- This course can be taken in a 2 day weekend course or a 5 day week long course.
- Bring with you a 16' tape measure, a pencil, and paper.
- We have safety glasses and ear protection for your use, but you may bring your own.
- Wearing sturdy close-toed shoes.
- You must be covered by a valid health insurance.
Are there women in the class?
Yes. There is usually at least one woman per class.
How many people are in the class?
Up to 4 people.
Do I have to sign any forms?
For your first class, you will be asked to sign a Release of Liability and Photo Permission Form in addition to Safety Guidelines.
