Origami Classes
Experience ID: 217
Learn the ancient Japanese art of folding paper. You´ll learn the basic techniques that can range from simple diagrams of folds like valley and mountain folds, pleats, sinks, reverse folds, and squash folds. And you may learn how to create bases like: preliminary base, fish base, bird base, blintz base, waterbomb base, etc. It’s a quirky, fun way to fold and manipulate simple items such as paper and card into exuberant, detailed magnificent figures. Everyone has made a paper aeroplane at some point in their life; this is your chance to advance far beyond that. With a few simple folds and creases you can bring the paper to life. Origami is all around us, from the simple table card folds to the restaurant napkin swans. You can and will be able to make such grand designs yourself. It’s a fascinating activity to take part in and you will be surprised how easy it is to pick up and create complex looking designs. This skill can be used as a party trick and for so much more once you leave the classroom.

What is the difference between crease and fold?
A crease is the line in the paper where you unfold a particular move. Fold is a completed move.
How will I remember the steps and folds to create the origami designs?
You can and take notes, but mostly practice, practice, practice!
What if I know nothing about Origami?
For beginners classes you will receive prepackaged "kami" (Japanese for paper) in squares with beautiful traditional patterns, but with time you will be free to apply the techniques on any flat material that holds folds. You will progress through practice, repetition and demonstration!
