Ice Skating Experience
Experience ID: 180
Here is the chance to learn essential basic skating skills at every level that will apply to all types of skating and get you started in the fabulous world of becoming any type of skater; including recreational, hockey or competitive figure skater.
During this day you will be taught the basics to achieve a safe and fun experience that will get you skating your way to contentment.
Generally lessons for beginners may begin by walking into the rinks entrance (this task is done by most instructors to ensure you are comfortable enough reaching the main rink). The instructors will make sure that your process is a smooth one, teaching you things such as walking on ice, grabbing and letting go of the bars, learning how to fall, gliding, stopping, moving forward, falling on purpose, etc., but mainly having fun and enjoying the experience to its fullest.
Always have in mind that this experience is all about having fun, so enjoy every single second at the rink! Once you have completed your lessons you can play games or spin, glide on one foot, swizzle and much more! Happy Skating!
- Recommended clothing: gloves/mittens, a warm jacket, weight socks, long sleeves and long pants. (Jeans are not recommended )
- Beginners will often require to use a helmet for safety purposes.
- Participants will be divided by age and ability where possible.
- Make ups are generally not permitted
- Full equipment may be required to participate in more advanced lessons
- Skates should always fit snugly and worn with 1 pair of thin socks or tights; skates should also be laced securely to the top of the boot
Should I buy skates or rent them?
If available the best way is to go is with rental, however if you intend to keep skating long enough to justify the investment purchasing is the way to go.
I am a wheelchair user, can I book to skate on the ice?
Most wheelchair users are welcome on the ice but generally you are required to be accompanied by a career at all times. Please make sure you mention this booking to ensure accommodations are arranged.
What are seal skate aids?
Seal skate aids are aids designed to help young children gain confidence with their first steps onto the ice, although very common some locations might not offer them so we recommend asking for them in advance.
